Who doesn’t love to eat playdough! I’ve been told by the daycare teachers, my not-so-lil B hides some of it in his pockets and has a taste of it when he thinks he’s out of sight! Cheeky he is!! But who’s to blame them. Playdough is soo much fun!
And so for the moms who have kids who love to play with and eat playdough, I have some 5 really ‘tasty’ edible playdough recipes here. They use simple ingredients that can be found in your pantry. Not only is it really easy to make a batch of these for play time, but you don’t have to worry about your LO putting it in their mouth. These playdough recipes are perfect for kids to learn through multiple senses. These cover the sense of touch, smell, taste and sight all at the same time!
Who doesn’t love Nutella?? And which house doesn’t have Nutella? This is a very easy 2 ingredient recipe. Take ½ cup of Nutella and ½ cup + 1 tablespoon of powdered (icing) sugar. Keep mixing it till it starts to form a dough and then kneed it with your hands. It has a soft and silky texture, easy to mould and smells good. Perfect for rolling and other fine motor practice.
If your toddler is going to have a taste, then why not make it healthy! Simple 3 ingredient recipe that older kids can make too. ½ cup of your favourite uncooked oatmeal, ¼ cup of water and ¼ cup of flour. Kneed to make a fine dough. This sensory playdough is perfect for all ages.
Peanut Butter Dough
If your LO or toddler loves peanut butter, then this is the dough you have to make. Simple 3 ingredient recipe. Put 3 marshmallows and 2 tablespoons of peanut butter in a bowl and microwave for approx 10 seconds. This should lightly soften the marshmallows making them easier to mix.Stir the peanut butter and marshmallow together until it is smooth. Sprinkle powdered sugar onto the dough until it is no longer sticky. If your dough is still sticky, you will want to sprinkle more on. So yummy! And a great protein snack for the kids (well, minus the sugar). You can also replace the sugar with almond flour maybe. I Haven’t tried it but will let you know when I do.
If you are more of an almond butter fan than a peanut butter, then try this. Here’s the recipe. 1 cup of smooth almond butter, 1½ cups of almond flour and 4-6 tablespoons of runny honey. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Then remove it on a flat surface and knead it for a min or so till goes soft and smooth.
Three Ingredient Dough
One of the simplest way to a make a quick, edible playdough. A simple 3 ingredient recipe. Take a tub of whipped cream in a mixing bowl and add cornflour bit by bit until it starts to stick together and forms a dough. Add 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil to help the dough gel together.
